What does TheWorkstore offer?
We offer secure, flexible self storage units, serviced offices and workshop units in a range of sizes. With 24/7 access, you can get to your unit any time, any day of the week.

Is there an offer on at the moment?
Yes — your first month of self storage is 99% off, applied automatically when you book. No code needed. Office tenants get 10% off their first 6 months, also automatic at sign-up.

Where are you based?
We're on Doulton Road, Cradley Heath, West Midlands, B64 5QW — at the bottom of the hill on the right hand side going down (or the left if you're driving uphill from Powke Lane). The facility is clearly signposted from the road. See full directions →

🕐 Access & opening hours


When can I get to my unit?
Whenever you need to — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Access is via the StorID app on your phone.

When can I reach the team?
Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm. Outside those hours you can still email us and we'll come back to you on the next working day.

Will there be anyone on site when I arrive?
Usually only if you've arranged it in advance. The site is set up so you can come and go independently — but if you'd like someone to meet you, call 01384 904050 to arrange a time Monday to Friday.

Is there anyone on site to help me unload?
Best to plan to do the loading and unloading yourself. Staff may be on site but aren't always available to help shift heavy items.

📱 Using the app


How do I gain entry to my unit?
You'll use your mobile phone. Before your move-in date you'll get a text message with instructions on setting up the StorID app — available on both Apple and Android. The setup is quick, but if you'd rather have someone walk you through it, plan to move in on a weekday between 7:30am and 4:30pm so we're available on the phone.

How do I download the app?
Follow the link in the text message we send you — it takes you straight to the app store for your device (Apple or Android).

I don't have a smartphone. Can I still get access?
Yes. Each customer is provided a unique code that they can enter on our keypads to gain access instead of using the smartphone app. Call us on 01384 904050 or email us to help get set up with your code if you are having issues. 

My gate / door / unit door isn't opening — what do I do?
Call us straight away on 01384 904050. The front gate uses your access PIN — don't try to push or pull it; entry is through the app or PIN.

🚗 Getting to your unit


Are there steps to enter the facility?
The main entrance is at ground level — no steps to the self storage units or workshops. Offices have two small steps at the entry, and any 1st-floor offices are accessed by stairs only.

How close can I park to my unit?
Subject to car park availability, you can usually park directly outside the facility. From there it's a short walk to your unit.

Are trolleys available?
We have a range of trolleys on site — but they may not always available and might not suit every job. If you've got awkward items, plan to bring your own help.

Do you sell boxes and packing materials?
Not at the moment, but we can recommend some local companies that do. Just ask.

📦 What you can store

You can store almost anything that isn't on this prohibited list:
  • No food or perishables — unless securely packed against vermin
  • No living creatures
  • No combustible / flammable substances (gas, paint, petrol, oil, solvents, compressed gas)
  • No firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition
  • No hazardous chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents, toxic waste, asbestos
  • No items that emit fumes or odours
  • No illegal items or anything obtained illegally (illicit tobacco, drugs, counterfeit goods)
  • No unlicenced or unsafe goods (medicines, aerosols, fireworks)
  • No furs, paintings, jewellery or works of art over £10,000 per item / £50,000 in total — unless agreed in writing with TheWorkstore and your insurer
  • No currency, bullion or similar
If you're unsure about a specific item, give us a ring before you move it in.

💳 Booking & payment


Can I book online?
Self storage — yes, immediately. Follow the online steps and you're done. Offices and workshops require a short online application first; once approved, you manage everything online from there.

Can I book by phone?
Yes — though it takes longer, and our lowest prices are online (the 99% off first month for self storage is applied automatically when you book through the site).

How can I pay?
Any major debit or credit card, including American Express. You can also set up a monthly Direct Debit.

Can I change my payment card?
Yes — log into your account online, click 'View Payment Details' and add a new card.

❌ Cancelling & moving out

Can I cancel before I move in?
Yes, free of charge. Log into your account online or call us on 01384 904050. You won't be charged if you cancel before your move-in date.

How do I move out / cancel future payments?
Quickest way is to log in to your account online and cancel from there. Need help? Call 01384 904050.

Can I get a refund if I move out mid-month?
You can move out any time. Payments are taken monthly in advance and aren't refundable, so we recommend timing your move-out near the end of a paid month.

Is the site secure?
Yes. We've got:
  • 24/7 HD CCTV across the whole site
  • Individually alarmed units — your unit's alarm only arms when you lock it
  • PIN-coded keypad access at every entry point
  • Electric perimeter gates that close out-of-hours
  • Bright LED lighting throughout the building

Do I need insurance?
Yes — it's a requirement of your rental. You can either:
  • Provide your own insurance certificate, or
  • Purchase insurance at checkout when you book
The level of cover depends on what you choose.
